Villa Tykhe

The staff were lovely, and housekeeping was there daily, though we only asked them to come every other day. In two weeks, the sheets were never changed. Still, the villa looked pleasant, and the location was fairly handy, though I probably wouldn't stay in that area again. The main issue for me was safety after dark. The long alleys to the villa weren't lit, and locals said robbers targeted people there. I was robbed there on New Year's Eve, and the person who stole my wallet was known locally for doing this, but nothing was done. I wouldn't walk through those alleys alone. There were a lot of maintenance problems for the price. The upstairs main bedroom shower was broken and sent water over the screen, so I fixed it myself. The second bedroom's door handle kept falling off, some light switches didn't work, and the toilets in every bathroom kept blocking. The outside entrance lights and the hallway lights switched off automatically at 2am, leaving you in the dark if you came back later. Power went off at 2am one night and wasn't restored until 11am. Since it was prepaid, I'd have expected enough to last, rather than running out four days before we left. The downstairs main bedroom air conditioner also kept cutting off all the power on the last few days. I was told that was normal, but it left us sweating, just like when the prepaid power ran out. Upstairs air conditioners were too small for the bedrooms, so sleeping was only just bearable. The villa's only TV had white dots burned into the picture, making it unwatchable and frustrating to look at. Without the dark alleys, maintenance troubles and air conditioning and TV issues, this might have been a five-star stay.

Avoid this place if you don't want to stay in a room that smells like sewage.

We were four adults and three kids, and the villa fit us perfectly. The service was good, and having a private pool made for a great stay.
