Serenity River - Canggu

We spent 5 days at Villa Serenity River and were really happy with the place, the service, and the staff. The villa has so much room for our three kids to play freely, feed the fish, and swim, and they loved it. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We'll definitely come back when we're in Bali.

A good option for a group of friends or 4-5 couples, with good connectivity. Just be aware that all the good places are at least 15-20 mins away.

Avoid this place. We booked the villa for our wedding celebration, with 25+ friends coming for 2 days, and felt we were hit with hidden fees and terrible service. In the weeks beforehand, I worked with Kadek and Intan on the bedrooms, dinner, party, activities and other arrangements. The villa offers services such as yoga classes, catering, breakfasts and concierge help. We agreed on an event timeline and booked extras for the night, including a sound system, DJ and catering. We also paid banjar fees, for a total of 13 millions IDR. Then, the week before the event, staff asked us to pay for an extra night to cover electricity and cleaning, even though cleaning was already included in the booking. That meant around 2000 USD more, which felt unjustified and unfair to spring on us so late. The villa wouldn't let us use its electricity for the event, so we had to find a generator at the last minute, costing 3 millions IDR. On the day, we had to stop the music at 10pm instead of the agreed midnight, while we were still having dinner with our guests. We couldn't have the after-dinner party we'd planned and had to leave the house to continue the night elsewhere. The villa kept our deposit, so we felt unable to defend ourselves when we challenged the staff. Their response was dismissive and unprofessional. The whole thing caused a lot of stress and drama, and felt like a huge scam. I'm happy to share more details, but I strongly recommend avoiding this establishment.

We had a really good time at Serenity River during this summer's holiday. The helpful staff and great service made our stay even more memorable, and we were fully satisfied. We'll definitely come back to enjoy more time at Serenity River in Bali.
