Ayodya Batur Villa

We got a nicer room upgrade when we arrived, and the hosts were so welcoming and helpful. The homestay has some of the best views in the area, with a shared balcony overlooking the volcano and lavafield. Breakfast was really nice and came in big portions. We also loved the food and had dinner there both nights, especially the Nasi Goreng with chicken. It’s an ideal location if you’re renting a scooter. We walked through the lavafield without a guide, which was easy, and the hosts were happy to suggest a good route. We don’t like driving in the dark, so it was handy that the neighbors have a little shop selling cheap evening snacks. Give this local gem a chance, you won’t regret it!

Breakfast was included and freshly made, and from the main balcony the view is amazing. Getting here means taking a dirt road to a remote spot, so having a vehicle to get around is useful. The villa is spacious like the photos, but there are some obvious problems: a broken toilet seat that would be easy to screw in, a bathroom ceiling that isn’t sealed, and a power point high in the middle of the bed for some reason. The flies were the biggest bother. They were everywhere in large numbers, and it wasn’t possible to sit outside without being swarmed. Staff said it was fly season because of the rain. I understand there were flies at the cafes along the ridge too, but nowhere near this many. We also saw piles of rubbish at the side of the property.

The volcano views from the room are stunning, and the location makes the most of them. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed, with modern amenities and a touch of local charm. The dining was another highlight, with a range of local and international dishes prepared to a high standard. The staff made this stay memorable. Everyone I met, from the front desk to housekeeping, was warm, professional, and eager to help. Their attention to detail and local suggestions made me feel valued and made my visit to Kintamani even better. I can’t recommend this hotel enough for its views, service, and Balinese character. A great choice if you’re after comfort and a special stay.

Does the hospitality beat the views? Here, absolutely, and the view is stunning too. We messed up our booking date, but the family hosting us were kind and welcoming about it. The rooms were very clean, the bed super comfortable, and their delicious breakfast came with a view we won’t forget. The rooster next door might wake you, but then you get a reminder to watch the sunrise :) 10/10!
