Batur view Homestay

I was exhausted and getting over Bali belly, so I put up with the room for one night. It was cheap and had a nice view, but smelled moldy. The towels looked old and dirty, with stains that seemed permanent, and parts of the bedsheets were stained too. The breakfast didn't taste fresh. By then we already had very little trust in the hotel, and felt grossed out and unsure about how clean the food preparation was. We left most of it and bought food at the cafe next door instead. I won't choose a cheap hotel again. Cleanliness and maintenance matter too much.

The lofts mean dealing with a lot of stairs, so they’re not a good fit if you’re out of shape, fat, or have a walking disability. Other rooms don’t need stairs. If that works for you, though, it’s worth it. There’s a great view and a pool with loungers, plus good AC, a working smart TV, Wi-Fi, a large bathroom with strong water pressure and hot water at a good temperature. You also get a small fridge, sink, and a few plates and utensils. Breakfast bowls were excellent, while the other options were average. The staff were friendly and left us to ourselves. The parking lot is cramped, oddly shaped, and has a steep lip. Cafes, Indomaret, and other amenities are all within walking distance. Overall quite good, definitely recommended.

You can't argue with the excellent location and view. But the room was really damp and smelled of mold, and the toilet leaked. The pool is a long way down, and there are far too many narrow stairs.

From the balcony there’s a lovely view of the mountain and lake, and the location is fairly central. Breakfast was okay. The room felt damp, though, and flies were everywhere when we visited, so we couldn’t leave the balcony door open. There were other bugs too, including a small grasshopper, silverfish, worms, and a spider. Wi-Fi was very weak. The heater only worked for a few minutes, then we had to wait ages for warm water. The drainage seemed poorly built and smelled bad. The bathroom drain was in the wrong place, so water spread all over when showering and pooled in front of the sink. It was still there the next morning.
