Donguri House Bali

Shanty, the owner, was lovely and always ready to help us out. We loved our stay at Donguri house and were already looking forward to going back. The room was huge and spotless, more like an apartment, with a lovely indoor bathroom and an outdoor shower. There’s a large, fully equipped kitchen, a wonderful bedroom with a super-comfy bed, wardrobe, and TV, plus a terrace facing a very quiet outdoor pool. Jimbaran beach is just a five-minute walk away.

There are four units inside a building surrounded by an 8 ft privacy and security fence with a locking gate, plus a small pool of its own. The apartment had a free bottled-water dispenser, a full-size fridge, and a functional kitchen, which I especially appreciated. It was very quiet, aside from the nearby School’s intercom announcements at 7:00 a.m. My "Villa" had a bedroom, huge bathroom, combined kitchen and living area, and an outdoor porch for eating. It was clean, comfortable, and well located. Manager Shanti was a wonderful person who truly cared about her guests, and I’m grateful for her help and friendship. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The unit was cleaned to perfection. We skipped the cleaning every three days and chose once a week instead. If you hear the meter beeping, ask the owner to send you the electricity code. We spent 16 days in the upstairs unit farthest from the staircase. It was comfortable and felt more private than the downstairs units. Our host Shanti went out of her way to help us, which we appreciated a lot. The property has only four units, a lockable front gate, and a small pool that was big enough for cooling off. It’s a very quiet location, and the security is great. We loved the bathtub, though a shower curtain would help keep water off the floor. The gas stove was great, the fridge was adequate, and there wasn’t much crockery. I could have bought a few things, since plates are really cheap at Hardys, maybe $1 each. Bring your own floaties, as they’re extremely expensive in Bali, and leave them behind as a nice gesture. It’s about 200 metres to the beach, with gorgeous rolling waves and stunning sunsets to the west. Puta laundry is a fabulous option nearby, just 150 metres away. This area is more expensive to stay in, but Grab taxis work well for getting around. A ride to Kuta for massages cost us around $6 Australia dollars.

Shanti and her family, who own and run Donguri House Bali, were super friendly and just a phone call away if we needed anything. Everything was spotless, and while we didn’t use the pool, it was great to have it. The beach was very close, where we spent every day. We had a great six-night stay and would come back if we’re ever in Bali again. Thank you, Shanti x
