Hotel Sorga

We were seven in the family and nobody had a problem during our last day in Bali at Hotel Sorga. The rooms were all beautiful, each with its own balcony, and the big pool never felt overcrowded. Breakfast was chosen from a menu each day, with coffee and tea too. The beach is only about 400m away, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They let us leave our bags after checkout while we waited for our flight. For what we paid, we couldn’t have asked for more.

People have different standards, of course, but I rely heavily on reviews when I travel, and the good ones I read here didn’t match my experience. I don’t want to stay somewhere filthy. When I was shown the room, I didn’t even set down my luggage before saying I was leaving and looking for another hotel. I felt insulted. I stayed a few hours, longer than I should have, then left. I’d have been embarrassed to show that room to anyone if I worked there. I could say more, but the pictures can speak for themselves.

The property itself is beautiful, with a pool and easy beach access, and I do like it. But it’s a long way inside the street, which has no streetlights. The room was just okay, and while the bed was fine, the pillows had black and off-white fungus on them. I didn’t use them. I always bring silk pillow covers wherever I stay, but this still shocked me. There was no light on the balcony either. As a solo traveler, I mention that for safety. The rest is up to you.

We booked a cozy room for two and arrived from the airport after 10 pm. A woman offered us fresh drinks, and a young man carried our bags upstairs. Everyone was friendly and kind. The place is cheap, so don’t expect fancy new facilities, but it was clean and smelled good. Breakfast is on the first floor by the lobby. You can find things you need nearby, and motorbike rental is close too. Hope we come back. Take care with the different charging sockets, and get something more useful.
