The villa itself was spacious, clean, in a nice location, and enjoyable in many ways. But during our week there with seven people, several things happened that leave me unable to give it more than one star. While we were out during the day, 500kIDR went missing from one of the rooms. We reported it to Samuel, the owner, who said he would reimburse us personally. We never got to see him before checkout, and after we left he stopped responding. He never followed up on that promise, which makes his integrity seem entirely questionable. We also had real estate agents and potential buyers show up for unplanned inspections during our holiday, as the owner was trying to sell the villa. On top of that, a portable speaker supplied with the villa disappeared. It wasn’t ours, but it still felt worrying from a safety point of view.

The property and staff were sensational, so I’ve given the villa five stars. Still, expect hammering and sawing at 7am each morning because there was a lot of construction noise nearby. We really enjoyed the stay apart from that.

This place doesn’t exist as a rental. We couldn’t get in touch with the owner after paying, and the person who opened the door told us she’d bought the house six months ago and it wasn’t available to rent.
