Pondok Denayu Homestay

The room on the second floor was next to a family that raises chickens. They started making noise at 4am and kept going for two hours, so I couldn’t stand it and checked out at 6:30am. The kitchen was really dirty, and the only way to get hot water was to heat it yourself in a dirty, broken pan. I had a very bad experience here. If you’re a foreigner, I wouldn’t recommend staying because they communicate in the local language and made it difficult to ask for things like hot water, luggage storage, or checkout time. After checkout, they wouldn’t keep my luggage, saying there was no space anywhere in the hotel, so I had to carry everything while visiting the beach. If you have the same experience, I feel sorry for you too.

The patio is lovely, with a typical Balinese style and a swimming pool. This homestay is in a quiet but central area, just a short walk from the main street. I stayed in the cheapest room, which was clean and what you’d expect from a regular homestay. There are more modern rooms at higher prices too. I’d stay again.

The view was beautiful, the small pool was there, though it wasn’t very clean, and the evenings were peaceful and quiet. I tried this Bali homestay after seeing the Agoda reviews, but there were a few downsides. The room itself was clean, though musty, and the hot water wasn’t consistent. The wardrobe door was loose and looked ready to fall off. Staff seemed unfriendly and more focused on brushing off problems than sorting them out quickly. The rental car was quite old, and the helmets smelled unpleasant. The place is quite far from the city center, so keep that in mind if you don’t speak English fluently or aren’t comfortable using technology to navigate.

A good budget option for families. It’s in a strategic spot close to the beautiful beaches around Kuta, and Kartika Discovery Plaza is nearby if you want to hang out or see the Kecak dance in the afternoon.
