The breakfast buffet had loads to choose from, including fruit, breads, muffins, eggs, sausages, vegetables, pasta or noodles, and salads. If you’re Hindu, ask about beef, since it can be hard to tell whether it’s in the vegetables or pasta. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well kept, with hot water all day and night, tea and coffee facilities, a locker, and a large umbrella. Ours had a shower but no tub. We were on the ground floor in a Superior room, facing the clean main pool. It’s 3 metres (9 feet) deep, so it could be a problem if you aren’t a strong swimmer. The kids’ pool is 3 feet deep, and the part by the bar is 4 feet. There’s another pool behind the extension, but we didn’t try it. The garden, full of trees, was beautiful and very well maintained. The staff were polite and cleaned the room daily. They welcomed us with drinks, which tasted artificially flavoured and weren’t very good, but it was a nice gesture. The hotel is right by the beach and market. From the back door of the extension, the road leads close to local restaurants and discos. Everything we needed was close by. I didn’t like the tourist desk, though. The man there had a bad attitude and quoted double the usual price for a scooty. When we asked him to reconsider, he made fun of us for bargaining. We rented one from the market outside instead.

We’d booked four nights, but left after just one because the place was so far below what we expected. The rooms smelled, felt old, and weren’t pleasant to stay in. They only had physical keys and wouldn’t give us a second one, which we really needed. Staff also weren’t helpful when we tried to change our booking. There are better places nearby for less money. I wouldn’t stay here again.

A clean pool and modern, tidy rooms made for a good stay. The staff were friendly, and breakfast had a tasty mix of local and Western choices. It’s in the heart of Kuta, close to the beach.

The restaurant served really good food at great prices, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. It’s a good value, with a spot in busy Kuta where you can still find some peace and quiet.
