The villas felt old and dirty, with mould and water damage in the bedrooms and weeds taking over outside. The pool stayed cloudy, and five of us had just one sun lounger. Sheets didn’t seem clean, possibly because of the water used to wash them. One night there was no water at all, and hot water ran out quickly. The bathroom and shower weren’t clean, and there were no bath mats on the slippery tiles. Bugs were everywhere, so we had to buy mosquito coils, and the kitchen cupboards and appliances had insects, dirt, and stains. Squirrels also wrecked the outdoor area each night, so we had to bring everything inside.

A peaceful villa away from the tourist traps, and the people were lovely. I enjoyed the stay. The place could use some refurbishment, and the linens need changing.

Butter villa was a disaster. The kitchen looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months, and the pool was dirty. The sheets were stained and crawling with centipedes. We’d hoped for a good stay at singgah villa seminyak, but it was horrible. I was lucky to find somewhere else, and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The pool was the last straw. Once I cleared the debris off the surface, I could see black material on the bottom and fuzzy black mould where the tile grout should have been. I’d been in for under half an hour when my skin started itching and my nether regions stung. I’ve had a pool for 20 years and stayed at countless hotels and resorts, and that’s never happened before. I got out and showered. The room still had flying insects despite our spraying, and sleeping in stained bedding with bugs and filth for four more nights was too much, so we packed up and left. Reception gave us a partial refund after I explained why we were unhappy. They then listed us as a no-show on booking.com so I couldn’t leave a review, even though we’d paid for one night and had been there just over an hour. Cheeky Buggers. We’d booked "Villa 7" at Singgah Villas Seminyak through booking g.com after our flight was cancelled because of a volcanic eruption. It had decent reviews and a reasonably high rating, so we were looking forward to our first villa stay. We checked in, paid up front, and were shown the place for our four nights. There were leaves and other debris in the pool, which didn’t bother me at first since trees drop things in pools. Inside, it looked nothing like the pictures on booking.com. The surfaces were dirty, the glasses filthy, and both the duvet cover and sheets were stained. The bathroom was awful. I cut my foot on an exposed tile edge going in, the toilet was gross, and there was damp, mould, and general disrepair. They provided two towels, but no face washer or bath mat, so we were meant to use those same towels for showering and the pool. The power sockets were just holes in the wall, dodgy as. There were outdoor dining curtains that might have been nice, if they weren’t grey-brown with mould and dirt. The mosquitoes were out of control. We lit two coils and sprayed ourselves, but they kept bothering us. Even the room had insects flying around. I decided to try the pool to cool off, which was a mistake. I told reception we were leaving and explained the pool problem. They listed us as a no-show, even though we had been there briefly and paid for a night. Not a great experience at all. I definitely wouldn’t recommend villa 7.

I left really disappointed, especially since this was my first time in Bali. The place was dirty, the bathroom felt disgusting, the towels were dirty, and the shower had a terrible head with cold water. The bed was so hard that I’d almost have preferred the floor. The pool water looked unclean, so I didn’t even want to swim. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Save your money and find somewhere better.
