Sundari Villa

I had an oxygen facial and body scrub at Villa Sundari, and my skin felt incredibly soft afterward. I was impressed enough that I didn’t need moisturizer for several days after the facial. The spa is beautiful, professional, and relaxing. It’s pricier than other Seminyak spas, but worth every penny. Finding their temporary location was a bit tricky, at least after dark, but once you get there, it’s lovely.

Every room had its own ensuite, and the furniture felt sturdy. The staff were polite and lovely. Our rooms were cleaned daily, toiletries were replenished, and we had clean sheets and comfortable beds. The villa also felt safe and secure.

We left feeling extremely disappointed, and I’d never recommend this villa. Four couples stayed here from January 30 for five days. The villa itself was just OK, with basic amenities and nothing fancy. The cleaning was below average. I saw dirt under the sink and near the shower, the kitchen bin was overflowing and smelled, and the pool barely seemed to get cleaned. Towels weren’t changed and had stains. Staff sprayed them with fragrance to make them seem fresh. Sheets and towels didn’t feel clean. Several things didn’t work properly. The AC wasn’t fixed despite repeated complaints, the hair dryer was broken until I got a staff member to do a basic repair with tape, and the geyser didn’t work on days without strong sun. If you like a hot shower, this isn’t the place. The hall around the pool has no AC, so it was hard to sit there during the day. Breakfast only had two options, rice or eggs, plus canned orange juice. On February 2, money went missing from the lockers in all four rooms, not just one. We were short $500 total: $100 from the three upstairs rooms and $200 from the room by the pool. One upstairs locker jammed by itself, and staff opened it with a master key. When we told the staff, including the cleaner and cook who stay there, about the missing money, one acted dumb, though his face seemed to give something away. We kept having to chase the agent, Villa Finder on Airbnb, before he finally turned up and told us to go to the police station. He said that was the best he could do. The owner never came to see us. We had to carry all our money around with us. There’s no CCTV, and staff can access every room and the lockers. I can’t believe we were the first people this happened to. On holiday you want to enjoy yourself, not keep counting your money. I suspect they may have been taking smaller amounts from a bundle, thinking we wouldn’t notice. It felt like the owner, agent, and domestic staff were all in on it, since no action was taken. Visitors, guard your belongings, especially your dollars, very carefully.

The best facial I’ve had in Bali. So relaxing, and the staff were professional.
