The Oberoi Beach Resort, Bali

The staff are what stayed with me most. They were friendly, helpful and thoughtful in a way that felt above and beyond. The gardens are stunning, the facilities and food are excellent, and the views are lovely. If you want to unwind and enjoy Bali while being looked after, this place fits. The location is handy too, not too far from the airport and with plenty of places to eat within walking distance. The beach is public and may not be the world's best, but the waves make it fun. Some might see the rustic finish as being in need of renovation, but I think that misses the charm. Anyone looking for a sterile, modern room might feel differently.

We'd been to Bali three times before, and I wish we'd stayed here sooner. Service was steady from arrival to departure, including check-in, the room introduction, breakfast, Concierge, pool help, bar staff and even the guards. The facilities were clean and in pristine condition, the grounds were cared for, and the restaurants had plenty of staff. Little touches like mosquito coils in useful spots, quiet and graceful service, and a traditional dance show in the amphitheater all stood out. The pool details were great too. My only small gripe was breakfast variety. After seven nights, by the sixth breakfast we were getting tired of the choices. That's just me nitpicking, though. Management deserves credit for keeping service at this level. We'll be back. Absolutely recommend it.

I spent six nights here with my family from the US, and the service was so good I could keep talking about it. The food was delicious, everything was very clean, and they looked after us like royalty. More than five stars if I could give them. No regrets at all, this is where you want to stay.

We were only here for two nights, but left very happy and hope to return later this year. Every staff member we met was warm and attentive. Wina looked after us at breakfast both mornings and was wonderful. Breakfast is à la carte, with a big menu and the freedom to order what we liked. The resort is right by the beach, with the sound of waves all around. Its thatched-roof rooms and villas, and stone buildings, sit nicely among the landscaped greenery. The pool and gym being open 24 hours suited me as a fitness enthusiast. On Valentine's Day we watched a full hour of traditional Balinese Legong dance with live musicians. It was captivating and beautifully done.
