Villa Bougainville

Bayu was the one staff member who was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The rest of our few nights at Villa Bougainville were disappointing. The welcome felt hostile, and although we were told to message staff on WhatsApp for help, most messages got no reply. When we went to the front desk, no one was there several times, about three times during our short stay. The villa’s steps felt dangerous, and my partner slipped in the outdoor shower and hit his head hard on the concrete. The spa bath jets also didn’t work at all during our stay. We reported that when we arrived and were told nothing could be done. I paid $25 AUD to hire a flamingo pool float for the day, but it didn’t arrive until about 1:30pm because staff were on a break. It was left partly deflated, then took almost an hour to get staff back after we asked them to inflate it. I paid for the full day and barely got to use it. One towel got a small makeup mark, about the size of a 20-cent coin, and staff asked for $25 AUD to replace it, saying it couldn’t be washed out. That surprised me because another review said charges were only for stains like blood or tattoo ink. We didn’t pay, since the spa bath wasn’t working. After that, we were given just one towel to share, and no hand towels at all. We asked several times to speak to the manager about these problems, but they refused and left young staff to deal with complaints. Other guests were raising concerns too. Poor communication, safety issues, and missing basic service made this a stay we wouldn’t recommend.
