Villa Martine

We were travelling with 10-15 people, including little kids who can’t swim yet, and the villa arranged a bamboo barrier around the pool for an extra 250K a day. There are two WiFi points, one upstairs and one downstairs, so the connection worked well across the house. The staff were lovely and made amazing breakfasts. Rooms are roomy enough and have a couple of power outlets each. The living room also has a large fridge and freezer, handy for keeping food and drinks for a few days. A great option if you need a villa in this area.

A great place, and the caretaker is really nice. It’s especially affordable if you’re staying with a group: there are five rooms, each fitting around two or three people. The only downside I found was getting a car through the alley. It can make access a little tricky, though cars can still get through. Worth checking out if you need somewhere to stay in Bali.

The pool is a good size and fairly deep, set among tropical plants. There’s also a raised little pool with jets, but they weren’t working during our stay. We arrived at Villa Martine on July 1 and leave on the 8th. Kuta Beach is about a ten-minute walk away, and Jalan Raya Seminyak, with its big restaurants and shops, is roughly two minutes away. The rooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and each has a TV and ensuite bathroom. The kitchen has a stove, fridge, toaster, and microwave, while the living room has sofas and another TV. Glass and wood doors open from the dining and living area onto the outside. Cleaning is available, with staff tidying rooms and changing towels; they also cooked breakfast for us this morning. I’ve been very happy here so far. It’s clean, modern, and relaxed, and I’d recommend it.

We were told before arriving that the problems would be fixed, so it was misleading to find them still there. The spa didn’t work, the tiles were cracked, and the villa felt run down and due for a makeover. The housekeepers cooked breakfast but didn’t really do anything else, so I had to ask them to clean. We were five adults and three children in May 2018 for six nights, paying $675.00 AUD per night. For that price, the stay was really terrible.
