There’s a small kitchen with a kettle and cooking gear, and we found the four nights pleasant and quiet. It was enough time to see the local area. For the price, the place was clean and good enough. The location’s not bad if you rent a scooter, which you need for most places in Bali. The rooms open onto a converted garage-like space instead of outside, so there isn’t much natural light, and sitting outside your room still feels like being indoors.

I liked Pondok Kedongdong at first. It looked beautiful, the photos were great, and I extended my stay by five nights. Then I left after money went missing from my room. I’d withdrawn about €600 in cash to pay a surfboard shaper, and it disappeared while my friend and I were out for dinner for just 15 minutes. The police confirmed that the CCTV cameras had been cut off at that exact time. Staff didn’t help us or take responsibility. Later, locals and other travelers told me they didn’t recommend the place and warned me it was unsafe, and that people there could be dangerous. Don’t be fooled by the nice appearance. For your safety, don’t stay here.

The room was clean, the hostess was very nice, and they provide a kitchen for guests. It’s worth the price, though I wish there were a Netflix TV and that the dogs were kept in a cage, since I don’t like dogs. The location isn’t great: it’s at the end of a small gang, and parking a car can be confusing. Still, it was a nice stay.

The woman was very kind, and the rooms were clean and decent for the price. Getting around is difficult if you don’t have your own motorbike. There are lots of mosquitoes, so bring some spray and try to keep the place closed as much as possible.

The rooms are nice, the service is very good, and the location near Pandawa beach worked well. What disturbed me was construction right outside the front door during the day, along with dogs sometimes barking at midnight and waking me up. Those are the things I’d change.
