L Bajo Hotel

The location is handy, with a cafe next door and Labuan Square nearby for a supermarket, other shops and a fried chicken chain. The rooms have lots of space and huge windows, although half face the wall of the next building, so there's no view, even if you do get natural light. My room smelled a little musty, unlike my friend's, but we were only there one night and I didn't ask to move. The hotel feels old and could use refurbishment, especially better lighting in the lobby and hallways. Breakfast was very basic: bread, spreads, cup noodles, instant coffee and tea. The coffee area has a balcony and nice view, but its furniture is basic, which feels like a missed opportunity. L Bajo's big advantage is the large windows and the views some rooms get, but otherwise the place feels lacking. The new hotel next door costs just a little more and offers a much better stay. Even a few improvements here could make a big difference for guests.

The view from the window wasn't bad, and the room was just okay. The Wi-Fi didn't work on the sixth floor.

We booked this for the last day of our Labuan Bajo trip and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. It's near restaurants and convenience stores, and also close to the airport, so getting there the next day was easy. Our first room wasn't great, so we asked if they could fix the air conditioning. They came up with the solution of moving us to another room, which helped. The staff are good people, though some are still in training and may not be strong problem solvers yet. I used to work in a hotel, so I understand how that feels. It's also quite close to a mosque, and right next to a really good restaurant where we had some brilliant meals.

The staff were friendly, and it's only a 20-minute walk from Komodo International airport. Our room had a small bug infestation, which meant we couldn't leave food in it, and the advertised laundry service wasn't available.
