Tarsan Homestay - Hostel

We loved this quiet place, with lovely valley views and very warm, friendly hosts. There are three great dogs who love a pat. It's a little outside town, and the access track is bumpy, though they hire motorbikes if you don't have transport. We'd stay again.

The rest of the stay was fine, with a nice breakfast and a good shower. It's also close to the airport, about a 10-minute walk. But they tried to put us in a worse room than the one we'd booked, so the stay was average.

The family who own the place are so kind and generous. Our flight was delayed and we arrived late, but they helped us get in and find somewhere that was still open to eat. They were very accommodating, and their dogs are playful. It's peaceful here, though walking there with big bags is harder than it looks on a map.

I don't understand the good recommendations and can't recommend Tarzan Homestay. We booked two nights but left after just one. The biggest problem was the roof construction: drilling started at 7 a.m., so we couldn't sleep in, and the loud work kept going during the day, making it impossible to relax. There were ants and bugs in the room, and the bedding felt like uncomfortable plastic. The breakfast was the worst we had on Flores: just banana pancakes or scrambled eggs, with no toast alongside the eggs, no fresh fruit, and only black coffee, no milk. The air conditioning didn't work properly and took half a day to fix. The balcony door wouldn't lock. The homestay is remote, reached by an unpaved, unlit road.
