Surya homestay

Wayan and the family were so kind and went out of their way to help. It’s a simple place, but has what you need for a short stay, plus a good breakfast and beaches close by. I’d happily come back.

I’ve stayed at Surya Homestay several times because it’s such good value. The rooms are basic but practical, and they were cleaned every day. Breakfast is included, with omelet, fruit and coffee, and it’s terrific. The rooms sit down a small path through a lovely jungle-like garden, in a great location. The manager and staff are always friendly and helpful.

Mayan can sort out bike hire or a massage if you ask, and there’s a little shop by the entrance with things like beer, crisps, bug spray and sunscreen. Restaurants and the beach are about a five-minute walk away; larger supermarkets and ATMs are up the main road, around 15 minutes on foot. The family-run place has eight rooms in lovely green surroundings. Air conditioning and hot water are options, though I personally don’t need hot water. Breakfast can be included, from banana pancakes to omelette. Rooms are cleaned and serviced daily. If you want something adequate with awesome value, this is the place.
