The staff were nice and tried to help as much as they could, though they didn't speak English. The hotel itself needs a huge investment. During our 4 days there, the rooftop restaurant had no fish, even though fish makes up 30% of the menu. The in-room menu was little use because whatever we asked for was unavailable. We also found ants in the breakfast coffee and sugar, no joke. One rainy night, water came into our room through an old terrace door that couldn't keep the rain out, leaving the room really wet. We had a really bad experience.

The hotel has a nice classic style, though it doesn't meet Western standards. From the rooftop bar, you get a great view over the City. There's a free shuttle, and they're currently building an elevator.

Prices felt a little high for what you get. The hotel is easy to reach and close to the centre of Tual. The rooms were clean and okay, with plenty of room types to choose from. There's also a nice rooftop bar with a beautiful view of the city and the river.

We planned to stay a week because the weather was too bad for the beach. Instead, the manager rebooked our rooms and told us at 11 that checkout was at 12, basically kicking us out. He said he'd studied in switzerland. The staff were horrid, especially him. The rooms were noisy and the building seemed badly and cheaply built. Worst host I had in 6 weeks in indonesia, and a shame for the Lausanne hostel school.

Being close to the city means there are lots of restaurants around. But the building is very old, the air smelled of cigarettes, and it looked dusty and creepy, maybe because of its age.
