Mahagiri Resort Nusa Lembongan

The beach is a real draw, and the swimming pools were fantastic for our kids, with two kids’ pools. We’d visited the lovely beach in front of Mahagiri on a day trip and decided to return for more than four nights. It was a comfortable stay with a real island feel, compared with the Gili islands. We were travelling as a family of four. Since it was low season, the hotel price was pretty good to negotiate. Our room and service were good, and the room was clean, though it had clearly seen a lot of use. Breakfast was the main letdown: there weren’t many tropical food choices, with less variety in main dishes and fruit than we’re used to at mid and higher luxury hotels in Bali. The location is great for the beach, but getting to restaurants means a bit of a walk or taking a local taxi.

The staff at Mahagiri Resort were warm and friendly, always greeting us with a smile. They made it easy to arrange transport, tours, and recommendations for local places. The restaurant served delicious food with incredible views, and breakfast right on the beach was a highlight. The resort sits on a wide stretch of white sand with crystal-blue water and panoramic ocean views right in front. The setting on Nusa Lembongan is beautiful, and waking up to it feels like paradise. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, with bright tropical decor. The beachfront pool is lovely, especially at sunrise when the beach turns soft gold. It’s a great place to relax with a drink, read, or watch the waves. The beachfront isn’t great for swimming. Stones make it hard to get into the water, and there’s a strong current along the beach toward Tamarind beach, so consider proper wet shoes. If you want a peaceful, scenic beachfront getaway, it’s well worth considering. 🌴✨🌊

The road-facing room was so noisy that it really needs better soundproofing. The buffet area also needs more careful cleaning, especially the dust, and some of the utensils and equipment looked worn. I chose the hotel because it looks appealing and sits in a great area, but the room left me disappointed. At around IDR 1,000,000 a night, the stay felt more like what I’d expect from a budget place costing IDR 300,000. Comfort, upkeep, and value all need work.

The resort was almost too quiet for us, and we found the food below average. Luckily, there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. The foreshore is beautiful, and we really liked the pools. We stayed in a private pool villa and enjoyed the lovely room. The free minibar and turndown service were a nice touch, as was the small gift left for our last night.
