Wayan is the standout at Cubang Huts. She seems to handle nearly everything, from reception and cleaning to some cooking and helping guests. She's kind, efficient, always smiling, and incredibly helpful. Without her, I don't think the place would be nearly as likeable. The other staff were pleasant and tried to assist, though their English wasn't strong enough to resolve some issues. The biggest concern was a staff member I think was called Anga. He came across as quite creepy and made my wife uncomfortable by repeatedly asking personal questions and hanging around, especially when I wasn't there. Based on that, I wouldn't recommend the property to solo female travellers or couples where the woman may be on her own. We've never had this happen in Bali or elsewhere in Indonesia, and I don't think he belongs in hospitality. The location is excellent, close to Devils Tears, Sandy Bay and Dream Beach in Nusa Lembongan. The property has two areas: older, smaller huts with a nice pool, and newer Superior Villas with large, stylish, modern huts, comfortable beds and bedding, and spacious bathrooms. There are practical problems in the rooms. The light switches are placed in a way that makes little sense, there aren't enough sockets or shelves, and the small AC can struggle to cool the room during the day. Breakfast and the food are okay but could be better. The place is decent and well located, with mostly pleasant, helpful staff. The food quality needs work, and that one staff member should be removed.

The internet was out, and it sounds like that happens often. The cute huts and property are well maintained, and it's very close to Dream Beach and Devils Tear. There were lots of dogs barking at night, so bring earplugs. I ate three meals at the restaurant, and they filled me up. The staff were friendly and helpful. The woman who handled my bill at checkout did a very good job and made an extra effort to talk with me. There's a male neighbour who visits the property often. He should think about how his behaviour affects the property's reputation and guests' comfort. He drinks beer, smokes in the pool, speaks to guests, and hits on female staff who clearly aren't interested. Your voice carries, sir. I hope staff feel able to ask you to leave if they want to.

The beds were comfortable, the price was reasonable, and both the resort and island looked lovely. But amenities were limited, and the nearby beach had rough water. The pools had an abrupt drop into deep water, and the surface around them was uncomfortable to walk on. There's not much to do on the island without your own transport. Trips to the main areas cost 100,000 rph each way, so hiring your own bike is really necessary. The on-site restaurant was reasonably priced, though the lack of alternatives showed in the prices.

From outside, the hotel looks decent, but the service was disappointing and the staff seemed disorganized and untrained. Renting a bike felt like a scam: they demanded extra money before the rental period was over, saying it wasn't actually for 24 hours. Security was a concern too. The shower keys were missing, so the rooms couldn't be properly locked and were essentially left open. We ordered a coconut, and they forgot to bring it. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

We spent four nights at the Cubang Huts, and despite the nice rooms and pools, I wouldn't recommend it. We got Bali Belly on the first night. After we complained and asked to speak with someone, they agreed to remove the food charges, but nobody apologized or asked if we needed anything. While we were very sick, I messaged them several times on Whatsapp, as they suggested, asking for toilet paper. They never replied. When we requested service, they only did part of what we asked. For example, they left fresh towels on the balcony without taking away the old ones. And they put us on the wrong ferry shuttle. Luckily, we ended up at the correct harbour.
