Ke Rensia Villas

Abul was so attentive and made sure we got great service throughout our stay. I absolutely loved this spacious villa, especially the private pool. The location is great if you're after some peace and quiet. Five stars!

Ke Rensia isn't a bad place to stay, but for what it costs, I think there are better options on the island. After 5 days, some of our expectations based on its high ratings across several websites hadn't been met. There were good points: the staff were friendly, breakfast was good, WiFi was decent, the AC was strong, and we could use free bikes. It was also a nice touch that staff made up the bed when we were out in the evening. The villa's central island location was why we picked it, though in hindsight we might have preferred somewhere by the beach. There's not much right around the villas, and the main street is a few minutes away. Our villa was number 5, and it needed some attention. The private pool wasn't in great shape, water from both the shower and sink smelled bad, and the bed was quite hard. Ke Rensia is also near Gili Air’s mosque. The daily 04:30 AM prayers can be heard all over the island, but here they sound like they're coming from next door. We woke up to them every morning even with proper ear plugs.

The private pools were nice, the staff were extremely kind, and we loved our 5 nights here. The free bicycles were a nice bonus, too. But the central island location wasn't ideal, and I wouldn't return because of the owners' treatment of the staff. The European owners are known for withholding their pay, and the staff work much too hard to be treated that way.

It was easy to get around from this hotel, which sits in the middle of the island. Staff were attentive and ready to help, and we enjoyed having a private pool. The stylish bathroom had a couple of problems, though: water pressure dropped when both showers were used at once, and the hot water wasn't always reliable. Being on an island, I suppose those sorts of hiccups can happen. Breakfast had limited choices. Also, the nearby mosque's daily prayer call woke us at 4:30 AM and lasted half an hour. It sounded as if it were right in our room. That's not the hotel's fault, but it's worth taking into account. Apart from those inconveniences, the rest of the stay was satisfactory and pleasant.
