Kyriad Haka Makassar

This hotel needs improvement in a lot of areas. It’s a bit rundown, the AC doesn’t cool, the shower leaks, and there’s no curtain. Breakfast choices are limited.

I got a free upgrade to a spacious room with a minibar refrigerator and sofas. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the TV worked well and had HBO, and the roomy bathroom had working hot water. The room was cleaned perfectly, and all the furniture was new. The staff were super friendly, especially Dinda at reception. She speaks good English, is soft-spoken, and always smiles when she talks. Losari beach is about a 5-minute walk away, and other attractions are nearby too, around IDR 10,000 by Grabcar. There are lots of affordable restaurants serving authentic local Indonesian food nearby, plus convenience stores about a 2-minute walk away.

The staff were friendly and tried to sort out any problems, and the stay went smoothly. My room was clean and made up every day, with water bottles, coffee, and tea. The location is great, near seafood restaurants and places with western food. Indomaret, the 24/7 shop, is around 400 meters away. Breakfast was okay for Asian tastes, but there weren’t many western options. I booked the hotel car to tour Makassar and take me to the airport at a reasonable price. I’d be happy to stay again if I return to Makassar. Thanks to receptionist Adinda and Tuk tuk, Manager Mr Wahyu, and driver Mr Kifly.

Tried the bukber package. It was pretty underwhelming, though maybe okay for the price. The food tasted so-so. The restaurant had plenty of space, but I’d thought all-you-can-eat meant they’d refill empty trays. Maybe they didn’t, or just weren’t quick enough?
