RedDoorz Plus near Karebosi Area

I spent 11 days here and felt comfortable throughout. The staff were very helpful, and the room was cleaned each day. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and there was a kettle in the room. It's on the edge of China Town, with plenty to see and do nearby.

After an overnight flight to Makassar, we reached the hotel after check-in time, but the room still wasn't ready. They asked us to wait 15 minutes while it was cleaned. An hour went by, and nobody let us know it was ready, so we had to ask. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes, the Wi-Fi didn't reach it, and the door was hard to open. There was a kettle but no cups. When we asked for Wi-Fi, they said they'd prepare another room in a few minutes. Those minutes turned into two hours. The replacement had two single beds instead of a double, no window, and none of the listed basics like a kettle, cups, or tissues. It smelled just as strongly of smoke, though at least Wi-Fi reached it. After a little sleep, we found that connection painfully slow and unreliable. The corridor speakers played music around the clock. One was right beside our door, and staff said they couldn't turn off just that speaker, only the whole hotel's system. It came back on soon after we asked. At 7 a.m. the next morning, a staff member brought water and asked to clean the room while we were still asleep. Most staff didn't speak English, so they didn't understand when we shouted that we were sleeping. There were ants in the room and elsewhere, and the outlet by the bed didn't work. The one that did was in an awkward spot. Later, there were a kettle and some cups, but no tea or coffee.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's close to both the city center and the airport, with plenty of restaurants and mini markets nearby. I'd be happy to stay here again on my next trip.

The beds are comfortable, but the sheets were dirty. Nobody speaks English, and the staff smoke while cleaning, leaving a really bad smell. It also seemed like some people lived at the hotel, with children shouting and knocking on doors from 6 a.m. Good luck.
