Front One Boutique B21 Malang

We were in room 207, which was quite different from the other standard rooms and much worse. On Agoda, it appears with a window, but there isn't one in 207. The sink had orange stains, the shower was mouldy, and the floor was dirty. Light from the corridor also shone into the room at night. The staff were kind, though, and helped sort out the weak shower pressure. I wish I'd taken pictures. Honestly, it felt like we got an old room because they were overbooked.

The best thing for me was the location, near ijen street, in a quiet neighborhood. We stayed two nights in this big, old house with lots of rooms, including several family rooms. Our room's furniture was quite old, there were spider's nests in some spots, the toilet door wouldn't lock, and it smelled a little. The hot water worked, and the amenities were complete. There was also a TV, normal aircon, and a kettle with tea, coffee, and sugar. Unfortunately, the room next door was being renovated, and the noise was really annoying. 🙁

The room was 300k, and getting to the city center took about 5 minutes by car. There were plenty of food options nearby. We loved how quiet and tucked away the neighborhood was, with no scooters to hear. The property was beautiful, the room clean, and the bathroom spacious with a separate shower. The mattress was old, but the topper made it comfortable. Android TV and WiFi were good. One drawback: the windows opened onto a corridor shared inside and out, and its light stayed on all night, so the room never got dark. People chatting outside at 6am could wake everyone, too. I'd still recommend it for light sleepers.

The place has lots of room to spread out, with plenty of seating and couches, though the room itself can feel cramped depending on which one you get. What bothered me most was the bathroom door: it's transparent, with a clear view of it from the bed. I don't understand why it was designed that way.
