Sunrise Hotel Malang

At checkout, the receptionist didn't thank us or show any hospitality. The same short-haired female receptionist kept asking if three people were staying in the room, even though my friend was only visiting. When we asked about a hairdryer, she seemed unsure and said only three were available. There wasn't a telephone in the room either. She was unresponsive and didn't smile. Very disappointing, and I'm not coming back. Please look into this and train the receptionists to improve their attitude and service.

The staff were really helpful, and the city center is nearby. The room was perfect.

The sheets were okay, and we got two complimentary bottles of water every day, which was a plus. But the room floor and bathroom were awful. It was so dirty that walking barefoot for a couple of steps would turn your feet black, and there was no toilet paper. The birds kept in cages in the hallway were especially loud in the morning. Maybe that's a cultural difference around Malang, I suppose. Still, I wouldn't stay here again or recommend the hotel.

We needed to sleep during the day before going to Mt Bromo, but the noise made that difficult. The walls are thin, the birds are far too loud, and every time the elevator arrives, the doors make a really loud sound. The room was kind of dirty too. And the pool isn't really a pool, it's only shin deep, as if it's there just so they can claim to have one. Not a good experience.
