Wi-Fi was usable at reception, but in my room, #10, it barely worked, especially in the evenings. The signal was weak and kept disappearing, and the connection was so slow I couldn’t make WhatsApp or Skype calls. The electrical meters in the corridor beeped constantly, which was stressful. The receptionist played music late in the evening and in the middle of the night, and everything carried into my room, making sleep impossible. At 11 p.m. I went out and asked him to turn it off. Two days later he did it again. I complained directly to OYO Indonesia, but nothing changed, so I had to ask him again. On my last night, his daughter watched cartoons until 10.30 p.m. He also smoked behind the desk, and the smoke came into my room. There was a bird’s nest next to my window. Even with the window shut, bird droppings got onto the inside of the window and the floor. There was already plenty on the floor behind the desk when I checked in, and we found two dead geckons under the wardrobe. The electrical sockets were awkwardly placed, very high up, with none near the table or bed, so I couldn’t conveniently charge my phone. When I unplugged my laptop from one, the socket came off the wall. There was no duvet on the bed at check-in. I asked for one and luckily got it, but it had no cover. There were no garbage bags either.
