Dewi Sri Guesthouse

Dewi Sri Guest House was a really enjoyable place to stay. There are several restaurants and convenience stores an easy walk away, and security is posted at the entrance at night. I was in a four bed dorm with AC. The beds had great curtains and two outlets each, which was handy since I’m always charging something. The common area was tidy and quiet, with a roof and fans giving shade and keeping it comfortable. The pool was clean and refreshing too. There’s a self-service fridge open around the clock, stocked with soda, water, and beer at very reasonable prices. Laundry at the guest house cost 20k/kg, less than at a nearby laundromat.

We ended up moving through three rooms because we kept extending our stay on the day, after first booking just two nights, and the rooms we had were already booked by then. Each room had working AC, a comfortable bed, and its own bathroom. Room 2's bathroom was separate from the room, and its solar shower only had hot water from 10am to 4pm. The price reflects that, and the staff explain the details. The pool and social area are the highlight. It’s laid out really well for meeting people, and we met quite a few. Renting a bike was easy too. Outside is noisy and busy, but inside this place felt like a calm, safe haven. A really nice stay in Mataram, top hostel!

The outdoor space is where this place really shines, with a pool, tables, and plenty of amenities. Everything was clean and went smoothly, including the Wi-Fi setup with QR codes and the many ways to pay. There’s unlimited hot and cold water, plus tea and coffee, and drinks you can buy from the bar fridge. The rooms match the pictures. I had the second cheapest option, with proper hot water and a private bathroom near the entrance. There was some corridor noise when shifts changed, but it wasn’t distracting. AC worked fine, though it was a little loud. The cheapest room is between the others and has solar hot water and a shared bathroom. The host was friendly and accommodating. I didn’t find the mosque sounds loud, especially compared with the startling volume at other hotels, so they didn’t disturb my sleep.

The area was a great part of our stay. There were very local restaurants and food carts nearby, so we got to try lots of different dishes. We stayed a few days to relax before being picked up for our Lombok to Flores boat tour, and it worked perfectly for that. The property looked beautiful as soon as we walked in. The front staff welcomed us, got us settled, and showed us around. Our room was cozy and spacious, and we quickly felt at home. The pool was a lovely place to sit, and outside there were plenty of seating spots, charging stations, and a long table for eating. I really loved this guest house and would recommend staying here and exploring the area.
