We’d booked one night two months ahead, but when we arrived the place was empty and nobody answered the phone. The outside looked completely run down. It may have been nice a few years ago, but now I wouldn’t go there. We couldn’t get our deposit back and had to find somewhere else to stay.

The neighborhood was lovely, friendly, and a nice place to walk around and get a feel for local life. We felt lucky to find this place for our one-night stay. The owner was so kind and made us feel at home, and breakfast was delicious, especially the tea and banana pancakes.

The rooms are roomy, but this isn’t for anyone who expects a sterile resort. It has a great local feel, and the curious kids will eventually come over to say hello. It’s amazing if you actually want to chat with people in the country you’re visiting, beyond ordering “pizza with bintang.”

It’s a friendly place and close to the airport, about 15 minutes by local transport, without the noise being a problem. The lovely people gave us a warm welcome and can help arrange stays or transport to and from the airport, Ketambe, B. Lawang, Lake Toba, and lots of other places you might want to visit. Definitely recommended!
