OYO 1507 Doriyu Homestay

The staff were friendly and polite, and my room was clean. I was comfortable enough that I felt like staying nearly a week. At checkout, someone asked me to pay because the bedsheets were stained, which I thought was normal. Traveling from Aceh to Medan, I felt like I could keep staying here.

I strongly advise against staying here. I felt trapped and cheated over a mark on the bedsheet. To me it looked like an ordinary, easily removed stain, not the kind that’s difficult to get out. An employee told me, “If you come in clean, you have to leave clean too.” What kind of hotel rule is that? Does that mean Kelen doesn’t change the sheets after every guest checks out? I felt pushed into paying again for the mark, but no one explained what kind of stain they meant. The bedsheet already looked unclean when we arrived. If we’d known they would charge us later, we would have checked it more carefully at the start. We offered to remove the mark ourselves, but they wanted a 500 deposit first. It isn’t about the amount. I had already paid the fee, but Kelen’s rules made no sense. I don’t expect the sheets to stay completely spotless. This wasn’t something hard to remove, like blood or ink, just ordinary dirt. It was ridiculous to hear an employee loudly say, “Come in clean, come out clean.” We didn’t inspect everything that thoroughly when we arrived, and I had to get to work. I didn’t have time to drag the argument out.

The room and bathroom were in terrible shape. Water wouldn't run, the sink looked ready to fall off, the AC wasn't cold, and the floor was dirty. For a family room, there was just one towel and a single bar of soap to share. Service was bad too, and an employee at Kompas seemed to ask for money for coffee. Absolutely awful. I regret staying.

The stay wasn't too bad, but the sink was broken and the hot water wasn't hot. There was a small stain on the mattress, and the deposit was gone even if you took the sheets to be washed. I've never had a stay like this before. Aren't the sheets supposed to be washed after checkout?
