Hotel Moloka’I Morotai

I keep coming back to this hotel, and honestly, I don't have many complaints. The rooms are roomy and clean, there's a water heater, and the food tastes good. Staff are helpful and friendly, too. They'll pick you up if you arrive by ship from Ternate, as long as you call ahead. Bikes are available to rent for about 150k a day. The pool, rooftop, and private beach are a real draw, especially for watching the sunset. As far as I know, it's the only hotel here with those features, and it's the highest-rated one in Morotai. Getting into town can be tricky if you don't have your own vehicle or rent a bike, since the hotel is out in the suburbs. I also wish they'd provide pool towels. The water heater in my room worked, but it didn't get as hot as usual, so it could use another check. I'd recommend it for the service and facilities. I think it's a much better deal than some Ternate hotels in the same price range. Definitely worth visiting 👍🤩

The snorkeling nearby was the best we've done, with sharks and lovely islands where we could unwind. The hotel itself was one of our best stays too: a big double bed, hot water, and free toiletries. There wasn't a hairdryer in the room. I didn't ask whether they had one, though, and it was warm enough anyway. They'd finally started selling souvenirs as well, including a lovely children's book. Dinner was a mess. Service took so long that some of our order never came, and we gave up on dessert. I ordered a hamburger because I was getting tired of Indonesian flavors, but what arrived was fried bread with the usual omelette inside and a piece of fried meat like a cutlet. It was chicken, definitely not beef.

The room's design and layout are really good, though the toilet takes a while to refill after flushing, which gets a bit annoying. Breakfast doesn't start until 7:00 AM, so keep that in mind. The hotel's right on the west-facing beach, making it a great spot to watch the sun go down over the horizon.
