Munduk Heaven Luxury Villas

The service team and restaurant seemed to anticipate whatever we might need. Breakfast by the pool and dinner in the restaurant were both impressive, and the resort makes a good base for jungle walks, waterfalls, and other activities nearby. We spent five days here at the end of our Bali holiday. The place looked good when we booked, but the real thing surpassed our expectations. We were glad we upgraded to the floating villa. The accommodation is distinctive, and its views and atmosphere were breathtaking at any hour, day or night, and in any weather. The infinity pool was brilliant too, with a stunning outlook across western Bali, the mountains, and the Balinese Sea.

We visited during low season and had the place almost to ourselves. The restaurant was very good, and the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. We stayed somewhere other than the luxury floating villas, and enjoyed walking the forest trails up and down the hill. Incredible views. Highly recommend it.

The views are outstanding, and we had a good experience overall, but for the price and the luxury image, I expected more. The floating villa we paid for was spacious, nicely furnished, with a comfortable bed and a great view. Still, the bed curtains had loose or stuck parts, the armchairs weren’t comfortable enough, and the desk needed a better design. They kindly let us pay at the property at the same Booking.com price when my card caused problems. The food was good, though I expected more at those prices. The pool has a brilliant view but is awkwardly placed, since you have to walk through the restaurant to reach it. Motorbike noise carried on through the day and night because roads surround the property. The pictures made it look isolated, but it isn’t. The staff were extremely kind, while the hotel’s main house looked old and neglected. A good stay, but the place needs to deliver more for its price and positioning.

The staff were very friendly, and the restaurant was okay, though nothing special. Breakfast was good, but repetitive after a few nights. The spa felt overpriced for what it offered. We stayed in a cabin because the floating villas were full for our dates. The cabins were small and musty, with ants all over the walls, floor, desk, food packaging, and even in the bed. I know this is a nature setting, but there were so many ants that it was hard to relax. On arrival, we told the manager we were interested in the floating villas. He said one was available for one night and asked for around €150 extra. We declined the upgrade, which he hadn’t offered free or at a discount, and later saw the villa still wasn’t booked. It felt like a missed chance to make guests feel valued. The decor felt dated and overly kitsch, far from the advertised luxury, and the property could use a renovation. The pool beside the restaurant didn’t feel private or relaxing. There’s potential here, but the stay was disappointing, and it didn’t live up to the luxury image. Unless you can book one of the floating villas, I wouldn’t recommend coming.
