Cemara Indah Hotel

I first stayed here back in 1999, and I made my 10th visit last week. They’ve added new rooms, though some are good and some aren’t. I’ve kept coming for the last 25 years because the location is good. It’s a pity there are new buildings in front of the hotel, and the restaurant hasn’t changed much. To the owner, please dim the lights on the side where Mount Bromo and Gunung Batok are visible. They’re too bright and bad for photographers. That’s light pollution.

The view is the only nice thing here, it’s NOT WORTH IT! Power kept cutting in and out all evening, the restaurant service was really bad, and the rooms are low level. For that price, the bathroom???? Staff were loud at night, too. Go look for somewhere else.

The hot water may be limited, and some guests have noted issues with room cleanliness and maintenance. The rooms are basic, but generally clean and comfortable. There are eateries and cafes nearby, with Sate and Keropok worth trying for dinner. In Cemoro Lawang village, Cemara Indah Hotel has panoramic views of Mount Bromo and the surrounding scenery in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. It’s convenient for the park’s landscapes and attractions, and a good fit for nature lovers and adventure seekers who value the location and scenery.

Breakfast was simple and good, with 3-4 buffet style selections and 1-2 protein options. You could also come for a meal to see the spectacular view from the restaurant. You can’t see it from the rooms. The view in the morning didn’t make up for the cleanliness and smell problems. We’d seen the photos and set our expectations, but the sheets felt itchy-dirty, there were toothbrush and toothpaste from previous visitors, and the water bottle had already been opened. Worst of all, a bad smell came from the bathroom. I was exhausted after getting up at 3am and walking around all day, but I could barely sleep because of the smell, so I wore a face mask. The water was nice and hot, though the pressure was very low.
