The sheets were dirty, there was a thick layer of ash throughout the room, and the shower was ice cold even with a heater mounted on the wall. For 450K in low season, that was a poor deal. The rooms might have felt fair at 200K, but the price gouging here was on an epic scale. We were stranded after a late-night bait-and-switch with our transport, so our choices were to enter the park for 450K and then look for somewhere to stay, or stay here and cut our losses. In the morning, staff tried three times to steer us toward a private driver instead of letting us take the cheap local bus. The staff were extremely disappointing. When we confronted them, we felt they knew they were lying and scamming us; we could see it in their eyes.

There was a lot of noise outside, with people talking loudly and big cars passing by. The sheets were dirty, and the bathroom wall had mold. The rooms smelled bad too. A terrible homestay. Choose somewhere else if you can.

After a day around Bromo, the hot water felt good. The bed was OK, though the bathroom wasn't much good. Among the hotels in Cemoro Lawang, Adas seems like a reasonable option, but don't expect much service. Most guests are just here to sleep a few hours before hiking or riding to the Penanjakan viewpoint in the middle of the night.

We paid 1.5 mio IDR for a family room, and it was only just OK for that price. The views from outside the room were nice, and it's close to Bromo. We were 10 minutes late for breakfast, though, and didn't get any.
