Grand Puri Hotel

We’d booked just one night at Grand Puri after escaping bad conditions at another hotel. We expected somewhere clean and comfortable based on the booking reviews, but the humidity and fungus in the room and corridors made this an awful night. The shower drain smelled nasty too. Between that and the damp, it was hard to stay anywhere indoors, even in the lobby. After a few hours in the room we felt dizzy and couldn’t sleep, so we spent half the night on the balcony trying to get fresh air. I asked the receptionist for help with the smell soon after check-in. Their only response was to put VANISH tablets on the bathroom floor, which was ridiculous. The toilet seat was damaged and gross as well. At the lobby by the pool, the receptionist and some friends, maybe other staff, had what seemed like a party until 22:00. They shouted, laughed, sang and played loud music. Then around 7:00 in the morning, hotel staff started playing music at maximum volume and woke everyone up. The breakfast was basic and might have been okay, but we were so put off by the hygiene that we barely ate before leaving the restaurant. This was our worst hotel in Bali. We stayed at three different places in Nusa Penida and seven in total across Bali and nearby islands. I’d strongly recommend choosing somewhere else. This place should be checked by sanitary control officers, not visited by tourists.
