We weren't fully sure what the standard of villas in Nusa Penida is, but if you're after a more comfortable stay, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Newer reviews seem to describe the villa's current condition more accurately than reviews from 4-5 years ago. Our main problem was dust and mould everywhere. The wooden floors and shelves had a damp smell, and the sheets felt dusty. The toilet, the only part not made of wood, looked like a bright prison cell. Shower pressure was weak and the water didn't get warm enough. The sliding doors on the rooms and toilet had non-functional bottom hinges, so you could pull the doors out from below. Security wasn't great either. We locked the front gate when leaving, but came back to find it unlocked and open. It could have been the owner going in and out.

Breakfast was simple, with omelettes, pancakes, toast, fried noodles, fruit juice, coffee and tea. There are only four rooms, so the villa feels private and peaceful. My room was compact, tidy and clean, and the staff were helpful. Check-in and check-out were quick.

We paid for four rooms but could only use three. One had become a construction site after the previous guests damaged the floor, and the work was noisy during the day. We never got a refund. The host said he would sort it out with management, so we trusted him and didn't take photos. After going back and forth with management, they said there was no proof, and nothing was resolved. We felt scammed and were very disappointed.

The hosts were lovely and helpful, and the air conditioning was great. Our room was quite large, with a spacious bathroom too. It's near everything, and I'd especially recommend staying here for that.
