Nuansa Penida Hostel

The people working here are what make it so special. The whole team was fantastic, and Indra deserves a special mention. We did a little tour around the island together, and he also picked me up and dropped me off at the harbour. There are two big swimming pools, spacious clean rooms, and comfortable beds with everything you need close by. They also run a daily shuttle to a nearby restaurant with a nice view and another swimming pool. I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels as a backpacker, and this is the best one I’ve ever been to. If I come back to Nusa Penida, I’m staying here.

The location is good, near the center, and the Wi-Fi worked well for remote work. The staff were great, and the hostel was clean. They welcomed us with a drink and offered free cocktails at their restaurant, which has a stunning sunset point. Breakfast was good, though I stayed for a week and would have liked more options instead of the same things each day. So far, it’s the best hostel I’ve stayed at in Indonesia.

I paid 120k per night in rainy season, which was a bargain for this quality. The place is quiet, with spacious rooms, silent AC, and two pools. Breakfast was much better than the usual toast and jam, and I met lots of great people there.

The location is the main downside. It isn’t central, so you need a bike to get around, though there’s a restaurant and other places to eat within a five-minute walk. They also offer a discount and shuttle to an affiliated restaurant with an amazing view. Otherwise, this is a great hostel that almost feels like a hotel. The bathroom and locker are spacious, the rooms are cleaned every day, the common areas are nice, and the pool was always clean. Breakfast was fresh, with the menu adjusted to how many guests were there, so the price felt worth it. I arranged pickup, a ferry to Gili, and a west coast trip through them, and everything went perfectly. They were quick to respond. Special mention to Iloh at reception, one of the loveliest and hardest-working people I’ve ever met.
