Nushe Hostel & Room

The dorms are spacious, in good condition, and the curtains give you plenty of privacy. It’s an affordable, convenient base, and the staff are friendly. Meals weren’t actually available from the hostel during my stay, despite the listing, but there are cheap vendors just around the corner. Rent a scooter and head out to explore.

It’s just a three-minute walk from the ferry at Sampalan port, and there are a couple of good restaurants only steps away. The hostel itself is cute, with lovely doors and an outdoor sitting area. We stayed with a friend and found the room, toilets, and showers clean. The host was so kind and helpful with tips and arranging trips. We didn’t dare ride scooters around the island, so they gave us a little lesson and then arranged bicycles instead. Definitely recommend it!

The garden and temple setting are beautiful, and the family are friendly and spend the day gardening. It’s a laid-back hostel with a nice social feel, good for meeting backpackers or just lounging on a bean bag outside. Staff were sooo helpful, both with information about the island and getting us places. Beds are comfy, the AC is good, and the showers were pretty good. The clean toilets do the job, though they could be a little more spacious.

After staying in all kinds of hostels around Indonesia, I found this new place particularly well run. The staff were very friendly and supportive, and they could arrange just about anything at reception, from day trips and transfers to Manta ray snorkeling or car rental. Breakfast was tasty, too. The dorm room has a separate bathroom and a small outdoor seating spot with a pleasant lounge area. Everything was clean, with comfortable beds and fresh towels. It’s also only a five-minute walk from Sampalan harbor, where the speedboats from Bali arrive. I recommend it to everyone.
