HW Hotel Padang

There’s a café serving coffee and cakes on the ground floor, right in front of the lobby. Breakfast is available at the fifth-floor restaurant from 6:00 to 10:00 AM, with a variety of choices. The hotel is in the heart of a local Padang neighborhood, not far from the beach. Its rooftop pool gives you lovely sunset views. Rooms are standard and use keycard access.

My stay at HW Hotel was unforgettable, since they kept my ID as a souvenir. You’d think they might at least say thank you for returning it. Next time I’ll assume reception is also a lost-and-never-returned desk. Truly memorable customer service.

The room was smaller than I expected, but comfortable enough for a few nights. Breakfast had an okay selection, and the staff were friendly. Padang beach is only a few minutes away on foot, with shops and places to eat nearby. The hotel itself is lovely and the rooms are nice. There was an event during our stay, though, and we could hear the music in our room.

Because the ferry wasn't running during the holidays, I had to change my flights and hotel plans. Three weeks ahead, I asked through agoda to move my reservation and offered three different dates, since we needed a hotel on three separate days. They refused because I'd already paid in full. I emailed the address on agoda and the one on their website, but got no reply at all. I could see on agoda that they had rooms available on all three dates I requested. They just didn't seem to care because the booking was already paid.
