There are only a few restaurants, street vendors, and shops nearby, so it’s good to know that before you arrive. We stayed at RedDoorz Syariah for one night before our flight from Makassar airport. The room was roomy, with a comfortable bed, a little table and chairs, and a TV we didn’t use. The bathroom was a decent size, with a clean Western toilet and a shower. There was no hot water, but that didn’t bother us.

We arranged an airport transfer at the desk, but the driver never showed up. On top of that, a wedding party across from the hotel played loud music until 1 a.m., so it was impossible to sleep. A disappointing stay.

On Booking.com, the hotel was listed as “RedDoorz Syariah near Minangkabau International Airport,” but Google Maps showed a different name. That made it extremely hard to guide the taxi to the right place. I’m leaving this note in case it helps someone else avoid the same hassle.

The room seemed clean and had plenty of space, but rain came through the ceiling and left the floor wet. When the rain made it hard to find a Grab or taxi, I asked the front desk for help. He didn’t do anything and went back to sleep. I ended up hitchhiking to the airport in the pouring rain and nearly missed my flight. The service was terrible.
