People make a place, and the people here were wonderful. They shared delicious food, helped me with my visa extension, and made me feel at home in so many ways. I'm really grateful for that time. The guesthouse is beautiful in all its details too, and this has been my best stay in Southeast Asia so far. If you're travelling around Sumatra and need a rest, I'd highly recommend staying here. Thanks to all of you, and all the best!

It's a good place to sit back, enjoy the view, chat, or just do nothing. From the hillside you can see the riverbank and city, though the steep slope could be hard for older people and anyone on a bike. The homestay sits on the river's southern side. The owners speak good English and were very nice and polite. It's reasonably clean, and you can get meals if you want. Wifi was intermittent. Recommended!

We stayed here three times between trips, and the staff were the best part. The location is very good, and the rooms and bathroom were super clean, with hot showers. Everything felt comfortable and nice, especially the terrace overlooking the city. I'd recommend it to anyone staying in Padang.

Second Hope felt like home to us during the nearly two weeks we stayed on and off. Philip and the team were always around to help with whatever we needed and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. It's the best hostel in Padang, no exceptions. I can't recommend it enough to travellers, and I hope to come back someday!

The rooms are spacious, and the facilities were clean. We stayed here after getting back from Mentawais and loved the view across Padang, as well as the lovely crew and owner. Definitely the place to stay in Padang. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
