Unprofessional. They woke us at midnight because the car we’d parked the day before supposedly wasn’t far enough forward. The parking rules about where and how to park hadn’t been made clear, and it disturbed my family’s sleep.

It was my first time staying in a guest house, and I came away with a good impression. The place was clean, the staff were friendly, and it was close to everything. There’s no hot water, but that wasn’t a problem for me in Padang. It felt like being at home, so I’d choose this place again next time I’m in town.

The price felt worth it, and I’d choose this over a hotel next time. The room was tidy, the toilet clean, and the AC nice and cold. It was comfortable bringing the kids along, too.

I’d been told there might be a chance to extend, but after I’d stayed two days, nobody confirmed anything for the third. I’d left my phone at the office, so I couldn’t get through to the hotel staff. I managed to confirm the extension two hours after the usual checkout time, only to learn the room had already been booked for someone else, while my things were still inside. They treated the late confirmation as a reason not to extend automatically, then charged me 100,000 Rupiah for late checkout. Nobody had explained or agreed to those rules with me. I’d paid a 200,000 Rupiah deposit, and that one-sided fine was taken from it. The service was very poor.
