We ended up extending our stay twice. The breakfast was amazing, the staff were lovely, and communication was quick and reassuring. I honestly can't imagine a better place to stay in Yogjakarta. The hotel is also part of an art exhibition space, so during the day there's some activity from young creative students. It was easy to chat with them and get a sense of the next generation in Yogjakarta and what young Indonesians are like. The café next door serves food we'd expect at an upper-class restaurant, but in a casual setting and at fairly low prices. This place is a jackpot. If you find it available, that's your lucky day (:

These were the best rooms we found during a month of budget travel in Indonesia. There was a little noise from neighboring guests, though. The location works perfectly with a scooter, but it's quite a way from the city center without one.
