Bagus Homestay

Probably the best homestay I’ve been to. The owners are lovely, everything was clean, and we had a private balcony. There’s a restaurant out front run by the same owners, and there was even a very cute cat ❤️. The only downside was no hot water, though that’s pretty normal for a homestay. Great place to stay!

Our window looked out onto a gray wall, and the breakfast was not okay, though not awful either. The room had mold on the walls and ceiling fan, a broken toilet that wouldn’t flush, a broken AC, dirty sheets and a shower that only dripped cold water. When we told one of the women working there about the sheets, she changed them, but the replacements were stained too. The ceiling fan was covered in fluffy gray and green mold. I’m worried the amount of mold could be life-endangering, especially for people with lung issues like asthma or lung cancer, as well as healthy people. Even though the hotel is cheap, it isn’t worth risking your life and health to save a few rupiah. I’m begging anyone thinking about staying here to run before it’s too late.

The family running this place are the nicest people. They gave us a warm welcome and a cup of coffee, and the hostess was helpful with everything, from getting tickets to Gili to showing us how to reach the boats. The room was very simple but clean, with air conditioning, and we enjoyed the breakfast. For the price, this is a great place. They made our stay really nice.

The location is handy, just two minutes from the port and five minutes from a street lined with local restaurants. The people were hospitable, and the rooms were basic but spacious. We enjoyed the included breakfast and coffee. I’d definitely recommend it.
