Taman Bukit Palem Resort

We came for a school trip, and the place was awful. The drive there was difficult, and the rooms were filthy. Maybe it's because the resort is old and so large that cleaning it is hard, but the lighting was creepy, the floors were dirty, and bed bugs bit nearly all of us. Around 4:30 am we found two roaches on the floor and spent an exhausting hour trying to kill them. They'd come in beneath the main door, where there was a huge gap. The bathroom door wouldn't lock properly, and the shower is positioned so badly that the floor stays wet. The back doors gave us no privacy at all: they were covered only with insect nets, so people could hear us inside, and we could easily hear the neighbors. The windows were huge, but the curtains didn't cover them fully and people could open the windows from outside. The fan didn't work, and the air conditioning was terrible. The food was just as bad. Lunch the next day was fried rice reheated from the day before, and it seemed like they hadn't bothered to cook properly. The supposed chocolate milk tasted like water with a little chocolate. Hardly anyone ate much, and the canteen had spiders and webs under several tables. There was no water throughout the buildings, and the only hot water I found was freezing cold. I ended up eating raw noodles for dinner after eating so little at the cafeteria. The pool was okay, but dirty with lots of leaves and flowers in it. There was no railing at all beside the ledge to the other pool, and someone got hurt falling from it. Many students, me included, got sick after swimming, maybe because we'd barely eaten. The outdoor toilets were disgusting, full of spiders, flies, and mosquitoes, with a whole snail sitting on top of a toilet lid. They were also placed in really awkward spots. I came back with a cough and the flu. Don't come here alone, and I wouldn't recommend staying for any reason. Bring sandals, insect repellent, medicine, and Baygon, and expect bugs in your room. If this review is old by the time you read it, the hotel photos may just be lying to you. If I could give zero stars, I would, because it's that bad.
