The Pande Hill Homestay

The garden was lovely, and the restaurant had a fantastic view with monkeys around. It’s convenient that you can arrange the fire dance show through the hotel.

The reception staff were the best part, especially the young guy who was so kind and helpful. We hired a motorbike there, and when we asked to switch from our first room to a nicer one, they helped us out. The second room was good, with a beautiful view, and the pool was nice. Our first room was dark and uncomfortable, with a very squeaky bed that kept me from sleeping properly. The bathroom was really old. Breakfast was disappointing too: sad pancakes and bad coffee. We found a nice coffee shop nearby and spent even less there.

The location in Uluwatu worked well, though I may just have been unlucky to get a room in a house beside the road. Inside, the bathroom was really dirty, the towels smelled, and the room wasn’t cleaned. We also had two animal encounters in the room, but both animals were friendly. Staff weren’t very friendly at check-in. This one’s for Joost, my 69th review.

I had a decent stay for one night, but the bathrooms need serious work. There’s no separate wet and dry shower area, which could be fine, except the shower floor is covered in stones with only a small patch to stand on. The stones also had insects living in them.
