FOX Hotel Pekanbaru

I booked a Deluxe Queen Bed room and arrived around 7 p.m. after work. The staff member helping me said the room wasn't ready, so I waited a while and went to the mall for a drink. When I returned at about 9:15 p.m. to get my key, the receptionist had changed shifts and the new person didn't know about my booking. My signed check-in paper showed a room on the 10th floor, which I assumed was the Deluxe Queen Bed room. He said I hadn't been assigned a room yet and that the room written on my paper had already gone to another guest. He apologized and put me in a Deluxe Twin Bed room on the 5th floor instead. I don't really mind which bed type I get, but if the room I booked wasn't available, they should have told me honestly. I was exhausted after a long day at work and had waited while they were supposedly getting my requested room ready, only to not get it in the end. Shame on you.

There's a gym, sauna, and swimming pool. The hotel is on a business street, and parking is limited on weekends. The room was comfortable enough, though the mattress was hard. It also had a hair dryer and mini fridge. The staff were friendly and helpful to visitors.

The view was lovely, and the food was nice too. Thanks to rito for the excellent service.

At night, the ground floor was a nice place to unwind, with a little cafe or bar serving beer and a busking vibe. I stayed for a week, and the room was spacious, clean, and in great shape. There weren't many restaurant choices, but it was okay. Breakfast was standard Indonesian fare with maybe a little Western food. Nice stay overall, recommended.
