We stayed at arnells during a break between climbing the volcano or taking the boat to or from Komodo island. Bangsal port itself isn’t very tourist-friendly, and most places to eat were closed after 1800, with little else to do. The room was clean, we got some useful information, and breakfast was nice. Josalem, the owner, was lovely to talk with since he grew up in the same country as me. I’d definitely recommend staying at arnells for a stopover.

The owners were incredibly warm, and I really enjoyed chatting with the husband, wife, and their lovely daughter. We spent one night here after our Rinjani trek. The room was spacious, the shower had plenty of hot water, and the wifi worked well. Their couple of cute cats were playful and sociable, which was a fun bonus. Fabulous value.

The room was cozy and clean, more like being at home than staying somewhere. The owners cooked really good food, and both of them were so caring and kind. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the town center and the ferry harbor, which worked perfectly for us. I miss them and the kids already, and I’ll be back!

The bungalows are in a handy spot, about two minutes from the harbor by scooter, and they’re run by a really nice couple. The rooms were very good. One warning from our one-night stay: someone broke in while we were asleep. I’m a light sleeper, so I woke up, and nothing was taken. Apparently this happens every week. Lock the door and nothing will happen ;)

It’s around a 10 minute walk from Bangsal Harbour. I booked a private room with its own separate shower and washroom, but there was no hot water. I was told hot water is available in other rooms, at a higher price. Booking.com didn’t say that the room I reserved had a cold shower, which was disappointing.
