Klub Kokos Bungalows

The staff were warm and welcoming. During our four-night stay, they cleaned the room and changed the towels when we asked. That was the bright spot, because the accommodation itself was a poor value for what we paid. We could have booked somewhere much better for the same price. Getting to Ubud market was awkward too. It’s at least a 40-minute walk, and after 7 there are no lights along the ridge, so walking isn’t really an option. Local taxis charge very high fares because locals don’t allow online cabs to be booked. We had booked a two-bedroom bungalow, but it was just two rooms and one bathroom, with barely enough space for a chair. Half the lights didn’t work, and there were no charging points near the bed. The rooms themselves were decent, but basic facilities were missing: no hot water, and only small hand-washing soaps instead of toiletries. After a shower, water spread into the room. There’s no food beyond breakfast, which was limited to bread and omelettes. Thin netting near the ceiling let ants and insects into the rooms, and the open roof meant we heard strange sounds from insects and other things at night.
