We spent most evenings watching the sunset from the balcony and really loved our time here. The villa feels spacious and airy, with big comfortable built-in king beds, plenty of wardrobe space, and lovely indoor-outdoor bathrooms. Spanish and Balinese styles come together nicely. The rooms are tastefully furnished, and the layout makes the most of the views and big skies while keeping guests private. We also felt safe within the Hacienda estate, which has limited access from elsewhere. The garden is lovely, and the large pool fits into it well. It’s deep and great for cooling off on a hot day. If you’re into nature, there’s plenty to notice: yellow vented bulbuls visiting daily, skinks, water monitor lizards, and the evening sounds of nightjars, bats, frogs, and crickets. We had a pair of large Tokay gekkos breeding in the garden and went to look for them every day. Very Instagramable, if you have a selfie stick! It’s a peaceful, chic spot off the Pererenan drag, with easy beach access and plenty of good local food. Monsier Spoon is at the end of the road, and there are loads of restaurants nearby. We had limited options for eating out during our month there, though, because we happened to visit during the Covid19 lockdown, so we cooked at the villa more than most guests probably would. The kitchen could use a couple more pans and a bit more counter space. GoJek and Grab deliveries also kept taking the wrong side road. For our stay, the extra kitchen time made those small shortcomings noticeable. The villas seem well designed overall and would suit two couples or a small group of friends.

The staff were friendly and the villa was nice in general, but it needs maintenance. The fans were dirty and made a sound like they might fall off the wall, and some lamps were mouldy. We ended up changing villas because Black Sand Bar next door was SO noisy, with music every night and drunk people shouting around. That wasn’t what we expected in Pereranan. The stay was nice otherwise, but there’s better value in the area without the noise.

The location is hard to beat, just a five-minute walk to the beach, and we enjoyed the food as well. Our villa worked really well for our family, including a 3-year-old and an 8-month-old. They were happy spending the whole day there, and the big dining table was great for a family meal. It’s set up for either a short or long stay, with a useful kitchen, dishes and cookware, a water tank, and a medium-sized fridge. The pool was very clean and well maintained. We had an incredible stay at Hacienda Bali and would return if we’re back in this area.

The relaxed local feel, lovely staff, and excellent breakfasts on the top deck made this place special. It’s only a short stroll to the beach, and they can arrange short chauffeured trips to anywhere you’d want to go in Bali. We had a fantastic experience from the moment we walked in, and I can’t fault it. I’m watching the sunset with my last GnT before heading home, and I’m jealous of anyone who might check in before I get another chance to. You’ll fall in love with it straight away.

We stayed at hacienda villa with our 8-month-old baby, and were impressed by almost everything: the lovely pool, large bedrooms, spacious area around the villa, food, and attentive staff. Having a travel cot for the baby was very handy. The villas are newly built in a peaceful part of Canggu, and we walked to the nearby beach for some sun and surf. There are also small restaurants close by, alongside the in-house restaurant within the villa compound. It’s a beautiful, quiet, well-equipped place for a Bali vacation. My husband and I were very happy with our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere like this.
